Visit our SPCA to choose a pet. Consider the size of your property, other pets in the home and the ages of your children.
Our inspector will check your property to make sure it is suitable for the pet you have chosen. The R100 inspection fee is deducted from the adoption fee once approved.
Once approved, you will pay the adoption fee.
Once you have paid the adoption fee, your pet will be sterilised, inoculated and micro-chipped.
You will be contacted once your pet is ready to collected and taken to their forever home.
Please do not email us to apply for adoption. All applications must be completed in person at SPCA Richards Bay by filling out our “Application to Adopt” form.
Before adopting, ask yourself:
Are you fully committed to providing a loving home?
Do you have the time to socialise, exercise, and care for your pet?
Can you afford veterinary treatment if your pet becomes sick or injured?
Is your property secure to prevent roaming and ensure your pet’s safety?
Can you consistently provide quality food, shelter, and care?
After Adoption Care:
Once adopted, your new pet becomes your full responsibility. Any follow-up booster vaccinations or medical care will be at your own expense through your own veterinarian. Building a relationship with your vet is essential to ensure your pet’s long-term health and well-being.
Adoptions Outside Our Area:
SPCA Richards Bay can rehome animals outside of our operational area, provided that home checks are arranged with the relevant SPCA in your area.
